Cover up tattoo in Mallorca
Got a tattoo you no longer like? Miquel studies your case and designs a new piece to cover it, at our studio in central Palma.
What is a cover up?
A cover up means hiding an old tattoo under a new design, so the original is no longer visible or becomes part of the new piece. It's the answer for names you no longer want to wear, badly done tattoos, designs that have blurred or pieces that simply don't feel like you anymore. If you're looking for a cover up tattoo in Mallorca, the first step is a proper assessment of what you already have.
Not everything covers the same way. It depends on the size of the existing tattoo, how dark it is, whether it has a lot of solid black and how long it's been in the skin. As a rule, the new design needs to be larger and somewhat darker than the old one, and motifs with texture, shading or organic shapes, like flowers, animals or backgrounds, help disguise the old lines.
In some very dark cases, it may be worth lightening the tattoo first with a few laser sessions to give the design more freedom, and we'll tell you honestly if that's your case. The process always starts the same way: send us clear photos on WhatsApp, ideally before your trip if you're visiting, we study them and propose a custom design that covers well and that you'll love wearing. The assessment is free and comes with no obligation.

- Pieces with backgroundSmoke, clouds, water or texture that absorb dark areas of the old tattoo.

- Watercolour over a dark baseColour splashes combined with shading to refresh faded pieces.
Why get your cover up at Ink & Blood
Cover ups are one of Miquel's specialities. He works in realism and watercolour, styles that lend themselves to covering with shading and depth. He studies your old tattoo, explains what can and can't be done, and designs a new piece built to hide it. His goal is a result you love for its own sake, not just one that covers.
We're in the centre of Palma, on Carrer de Pere Dezcallar i Net, and we've been tattooing since 2014. We assess your case for free from photos on WhatsApp, use single-use equipment and support you through aftercare. Covering a tattoo is a big decision, so we give you all the information you need before we start. We're open Tuesday to Saturday, 11:30 to 19:00, and on Mondays by appointment only.

What you need to know before covering a tattoo.
Can any tattoo be covered?
There's almost always a solution, but it depends on the size, colour and darkness of your current tattoo. Small, light or faded tattoos are easier to cover. Very dark ones or those with lots of solid black limit the design, and sometimes it's better to lighten them first with laser. We look at each case individually.
What photos should I send for an assessment?
Take sharp photos in natural light, straight on and without filters, plus one from further back showing the whole area of the body. If you can, place a ruler or coin next to it so we can see the size. Send them on WhatsApp to +34 690 104 035 with an idea of what you'd like.
How much does a cover up cost?
It depends on the size of the new design, the placement, the detail and the number of sessions. A cover up is usually larger than the original tattoo, so keep that in mind. Once we've seen your photos, we'll give you a free, no-obligation quote and explain clearly how we'd approach the design so it covers well.
How do I look after a cover up on holiday?
Same as any tattoo: water and mild soap, a thin layer of cream and no scratching or picking. Keep it out of the sun, the sea, pools and saunas until it's healed. Since we're working over already tattooed skin, give it the time it needs. If you have health concerns or an unusual reaction, check with your doctor.
