Miquel

Miquel is a tattoo artist in Palma de Mallorca, working at Ink & Blood, the city-centre studio with red walls and framed flash. He specialises in realism, watercolour and cover ups. His thing is shading, depth and realism with a long-lasting finish: tattoos with smooth transitions and contrast planned so the piece still looks good years from now. That's why he plans every detail before the needle touches the skin.

Portraits, animals, nature, textured objects and scenes with light and shadow suit him well, usually in medium or large sizes, because realism needs space to show detail. In watercolour he works with splashes and colour gradients for a more artistic look. And if you have a tattoo you no longer like, cover ups are one of his specialities: he'll assess what can be covered and how.

Before starting, Miquel goes over your idea, references, placement and the right size with you so the result truly looks realistic. For a cover up, he'll ask for photos of your current tattoo to study it properly. Every design is custom made, the studio uses single-use equipment, and when you're done he explains the aftercare so your tattoo heals and lasts.
