Traditional tattoo in Mallorca

Bold lines, solid colour and classic motifs built to last. Danielo tattoos old school and neo-traditional at our studio in Palma.

What is traditional tattooing?

Traditional tattooing, also called old school or American traditional, is the style of swallows, anchors, roses and hearts with banners. It's based on bold outlines, a limited palette of solid colours and designs that are easy to read. If you're looking for a traditional tattoo in Mallorca, you're choosing a style made to last: its simplicity is exactly what keeps it looking good for decades. It's also where many of today's styles began.

Neo-traditional grew out of it. It keeps the bold line and solid colour but adds more detail, depth, gradients and a wider palette. Think stylised portraits, animals with ornaments, elaborate flowers or figures with more volume. Both styles share the same idea: a tattoo should read clearly from across the room and hold its shape over the years, even as your skin changes. At our studio, Danielo mostly works in this more modern take.

It works at almost any size and placement. Small and medium pieces look great on the arm, forearm, calf or thigh, and they're a classic holiday souvenir: many can be done in a single session. Just plan around the beach, because a fresh tattoo has to stay out of the sun, the sea and the pool while it heals. Book ahead on WhatsApp to secure your slot. We'll advise you on size and placement before we start.

Traditional tattoo FAQs

Quick answers before your old school or neo-traditional tattoo.

How much does a traditional tattoo cost?

It depends on the size, placement, detail and number of sessions. A small swallow and a large, colourful neo-traditional piece are very different jobs. Send us your idea on WhatsApp with the placement and a rough size, and we'll give you a free, no-obligation quote. If you like a flash design, we can price that too.

How long does it take and does it hurt?

Most small and medium pieces are finished in one session, so they're easy to fit into a holiday. Large pieces with lots of colour fill may need two or more. Pain depends mostly on the area: forearm and arm are usually manageable, while ribs, hands and feet are more sensitive. Come rested, fed and hydrated.

Can I go to the beach after my tattoo?

Not while it's healing. Keep it out of the sun, the sea, pools and saunas, wash it with water and mild soap, apply a thin layer of cream and don't pick at it. Once healed, use high SPF so the colour stays solid. If you have any health concerns or notice an unusual reaction, check with your doctor.

Why do traditional tattoos age so well?

Because they're designed to: bold outlines, solid colours and simple designs with strong contrast. All ink settles a little over the years, but a design with firm lines and well defined spaces keeps its shape and still reads clearly. That's why traditional tattoos from decades ago still look so good today.
